Across an ambitious two-week online programme, Newfound ran a series of highly immersive expert sessions with 45 expert UK speakers for a cohort of 30 high-growth international fintech businesses looking to scale to Europe’s fintech capital.
With focused panel and masterclass sessions with actionable insights and high levels of speaker engagement, the UK fortnight covered a range of topics, from government support, fintech regulation, investment and data rights.
The 30-strong cohort was made up of fintech businesses from nine countries (listed below). Just over half were from Australia, with others from New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Finland, Germany, France and Russia.
The companies learned from trade and industry leaders on the support the UK has to offer, including industry networks, investment options - and heard lessons learned from fintech businesses who have made the journey to the UK already.
Senior speakers across the UK mission included experts from the UK government's Department for International Trade (DIT), the City of London, London & Partners, HSBC, Level39, AWS, Lloyd's of London, OakNorth, TrueLayer, Augmentum Fintech, Balderton Capital, Finch, KPMG, EY, Tech UK, Fintech Alliance, CBI, Savanta, Edelman, Oury Clark and CO:CUBED.
We were delighted also to hear lessons learned from leaders of scaling fintechs Everledger. Airwallex and Bankable.
The programme offered a fast-track, virtual programme that would normally take months and considerable time and expense to access. It helped businesses that participated to accelerate their market entry.
September’s UK programme culminated with a Pitch Day event, led by corporate-startup collaboration expert CO:CUBED, helping companies in our cohort to connect direct to commercial prospects in market.
